Academic Honesty
The pursuit of knowledge and the search for truth—hallmarks of the academic enterprise—do not allow for intellectual or academic dishonesty. Yet today's bottom-line mentality is creating new pressures, on students and faculty alike, to succeed at any cost. This month's Thriving in Academe offers some tips for keeping the academy on the straight and narrow.


Carbondale Faculty and Staff show Solidarity at Southern Illinois University

Hundreds of faculty and classified staff recently turned up the pressure on recalcitrant university officials with a mass picket line in front of the administration building. The unity effort, a first for the two NEA local affiliates, came after months of negotiations failed to produce an agreement for either groups.
