Most professors do their research and teach their classes, allowing their work to speak for itself. But, more and more, the professoriate is asked to portray itself in the best light for skeptical audiences: legislators, trustees, taxpayers. This month's Thriving offers some advice for scholars unaccustomed to blatant, self-promotion.

Faculty Turn Out in Record Numbers On University of Hawaii Picket Lines
More than 3,000 University of Hawaii professors waked off the job in April in a strike that forced the cancellation of classes on the state's 10 campuses. The statewide faculty strike coincided with a strike of the state's nearly 13,000 public school teachers, essentially shutting down all public education in the state.
