Preparing Students

In a bit of a twist on an old adage, this issue's Thriving in Academe authors proclaim that it takes an entire campus to educate a student. At Alverno College in Milwaukee, faculty and staff together take on the task of helping the underprepared student get up to speed on college-level work. What happens when faculty and staff team up?

The National Education Association Excellence in the Academy Awards.
Kathleen Hull, Evelyn Beck, and Lisa Rosowski are the winners of the 2001 Excellence Awards. The NEA Excellence in the Academy Awards were started in 1999 to further NEA's commitment to excellence in higher education and opportunity and success for all students at all levels of learning.
