For many instructors, assessment is an undertaking fraught with uncertainty.  Now, in Thriving in Academe’s first issue of the new academic year, our authors suggest letting students do their own assessment. We might, these colleagues say, learn a great deal from them.

Outgoing NEA President Bob Chase leads the nearly 9,000 delegates to the 2002 Representative Assembly in congratulating Reg Weaver on his election as NEA president.  President Weaver, an Illinois middle school teacher and long time NEA leader, began his three-year term in September.
