Good Grades
Is there any topic of discussion in higher education
that creates more controversy than grades? For most students, grades
are the crown jewels of their education, the ultimate measure of their
success—or failure. But for faculty, the function of grading is
not so clear. Do we use them simply to measure student progress, or are
they really an integral part of the learning process?
The 2004 graduating class
of the NEA Emerging Leader Academy The
second graduating class of the NEA Higher Education Emerging Leader
Academy celebrates a year of hard work during graduation festivities
at the 2004 NEA Higher Education Conference. Twenty-seven faculty and
staff from 18 states and the District of Columbia took part in training
sessions for future NEA leaders that began in June 2003.
