No one doubts that today’s students are a complex
lot, with varying needs, abilities, and interests. Brain research tells
us, too, that students learn best in different ways. For some, group work
inspires their best efforts. Other students learn best when they pursue
learning projects on their own. What’s an overworked professor to
do? We can’t be all things to all students. Or can we?
50th Annual Gala Celebrates
Brown v. Board of Education Decision
Anderson Hamilton, a second-year law student
at Howard University Law School, speaks at the Brown v. Board
50th Anniversary Commemorative Awards Gala at Constitution Hall in Washington,
D.C., on the evening of May 17, 2004, where he was awarded a $5,000 cash
prize for his essay on the theme "Brown 50 Years and Beyond: Promise
and Progress." The essay award competition was co-sponsored by NEA.
