About an extensive revision of the classification of the nation’s colleges and universities by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.
In the revision, the former single classification system is replaced by a set of multiple, parallel classifications. The new classifications provide different lenses through which to view U.S. colleges and universities. The original classification framework—now called the basic classification—has also been substantially revised.
This new edition of the basic classification incorporates several changes from past editions, including creating a different category order, cutting back on exceptions to a classification, and using more current data. You can view and search the new classification system at www.carnegieclassification-preview.org.
. . . About a vote by members of eight of the nine SEIU the 2005-06 CUPA-HR administration compensation survey that shows the overall median base salary for senior-level administrative jobs in colleges and universities to be 3.5 percent higher than that reported for 2004–05.
The College and University Professional Association for Human Resources survey findings reflect the salaries of nearly 68,000 high-level administrators in public and private institutions nationwide.
Increases this year at private institutions were the same or slightly higher than those at public institutions in all job categories. The median base salary for a CEO at a single institution ranged from $141,685 at two-year institutions to $295,008 at doctoral institutions.
