They're talking on campus...
. . . about teaching assistants in the University of California System
who have agreed to a temporary cease-fire in their push for
collective-bargaining rights.
After a week on strike, the TA's went back to work for a 45-day "cooling
off" period proposed by the speaker of the California State Assembly.
. . . about a decline in graduate school enrollment for the second
year in a row, according to statistics from the Council of Graduate Schools.
A strong job market for new B.A.s and a relatively weak one for Ph.D.s may
be responsible for the decline.
. . . about a Call to Action by nurses, doctors, and other health
professionals to build a movement against the corporatization of health
care.
Their message: Commitment to the welfare of patients, not corporate
profits, should be medicine's overriding concern. To find out more, contact
