They're talking on campus. . .

… about a report that the proportion of college students graduating within five years has reached an all-time low.

The American College Testing program notes that only 52.8 percent of the students who entered four-year institutions in 1991 had received bachelor's degrees by the summer of 1996.

At community colleges, just 39.9 percent of the students who entered in 1993 had earned at least an associate's degree by 1996.

Since 1983, the nation's five-year-graduation rate has fallen 4.7 percentage points.

… about the impact of computers and the Internet on the nation's economy.

In the last five years, technology has significantly reduced inflation and created 7.4 million high-paying jobs, the U.S. Commerce Department reports. The computer and communication sectors are growing twice as fast as the rest of the economy.
