The National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) is an independent organization for all higher education members within the National Education Association. NCHE membership is open both to individuals and organizations as follows:

Organizational Membership: Any higher education local or statewide affiliate may join NCHE. Annual dues for units with 11-100 members are $120; 101-200 members, $240; 201-500 members, $420; and for more than 500 members, $600.

Individual Membership: Any NEA member currently employed in a college or university, on leave from, or seeking employment at, such an institution, or any member of NEA-Retired whose primary employment was in higher education. Annual dues are $24.

Associate Membership: Any K-12 NEA member, student, NEA-Retired, NEA staff, or affiliate staff member (nonvoting) who supports its purposes and activities may join NCHE in this category. Annual dues are $10.

NCHE members participate directly in the development of NCHE policy and receive a regular newsletter, as well as special publications regarding NEA and its affiliates. Organizational members receive additional mailings.

The NCHE membership year runs from September 1 through August 31.
