State Legislators and Education
NEA surveyed state legislators in 49 states in 1996. Among the findings:
- Legislators favor more contact between higher education and K-12 education especially in areas such as teacher education (88%) , school reform (82%), and workforce preparation (79%).
- Legislators are concerned about the number of students requiring remedial work at the college level, but are uncertain what to do.
